If a Triptan dug doesn’t work when taken for migraine, can I take a normal pain killing drug?
Melimoo asked:
My doctor has prescribed a triptan drug to try – I haven’t had an attack yet (typical). I know I need to take it as soon as a migraine starts, however if it doesn’t work, can I follow it up with a dose of either paracetamol or ibuprofen as I would for a normal attack? Or is it just a case of tough luck, it hasn’t worked?

relief from migraine
you can take normal painkillers after taking a triptan, you just cannot repeat the triptan dose. i have previously taken imigran and zomig and also take prescribed painkillers at the same time to continue to fight the migraine pain.
